OPERATION BACK TO SCHOOL PROGRAM No child should go to school without the supplies they need, like a backpack, notebooks, crayons, and pencils. Parents spend an average of $270 or more on back-to-school items per student each year. Gov. Tony Evers recently announced additional funding support for multifamily housing projects across Wisconsin, including $2 million for West CAP’s own Prairie Heights project going up in Eau Claire.  Funding comes in part from the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) and the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) in a joint effort to help affordable housing developers meet the rising costs of construction, interest rate increases, and supply chain delays. Back To School Supply Program 2022

West CAP has a long tradition of collected backpacks and school supplies throughout the summer to help school-aged children in need. This year, instead of providing students with backpacks and supplies, West CAP will be giving all supplies directly to the schools, which include: Boycevillle, Colfax, Glenwood City, Elk Mound, and Menomonie. Thanks to a generous grant directed by Governor Tony Evers through the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, West CAP’s Food Pantry and Food Harvest Ministry will begin jointly distributing monthly Wisconsin State Badger Boxes to families in need starting in August.  Through the initiative, locally produced boxes of meat, cheese, eggs, and more are being delivered to hubs across Wisconsin and distributed to food pantries throughout the state’s Hunger Relief Federation network. ADULT EDUCATION Governor Evers Stops by to Announce $4.8 Workforce Innovation Grant Governor Evers visited our 1300 Residences in River Falls last week to announce $4.8 million Workforce Innovation grant to help meet the increasing demand for nurses across the state. Governor Announces WEDC Grant to Increase Nursing Workforce

  Governor Tony Evers visited River Falls, WI last week to announce more than $5 Million in grants being awarded to help meet the increasing demand for nurses across the state.  Wisconsin’s community action association, WISCAP, received a $4.8 million award through the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation’s (WEDC) second round of the Workforce Innovation Grant Program, which aims to create solutions to Wisconsin’s healthcare workforce challenges.
