West CAP is a proud participant of a local community solar project to bring the benefits of solar energy to households in need. The Trenton Solar Array at Truttmann Field in rural Pierce County, WI  will be interconnected with the Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services (PPCS) distribution system and support the co-ops customer base. The array was built with funding support from the Office of Energy Innovation at the State of Wisconsin Public Service.

What is Energize Wisconsin?

Through community solar partnerships, solar energy benefits are passed onto households that receive state energy assistance and have a high energy burden.

Why?

The Energize Wisconsin program reduces utility bills by using locally-captured solar energy. Participating households receive monthly credits on their households’ utility bills. The program is offered as an added service within the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance program at no additional cost to eligible participants.

Benefits

The Energize Wisconsin program allows more Wisconsin residents to incorporate renewable energy sources into their everyday energy use portfolio. This not only reduces utility costs for those households but creates a more sustainable community for all.

Local Families Benefit from Locally-Generated Community Solar Energy

West CAP, the local community action agency, will subscribe to a portion of a community solar field on behalf of income-eligible households served by the Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services (PPCS). West CAP will then work with PPCS to allocate energy bill discounts to customers based on the amount of power generated by that subscription and the number of households qualified to receive the benefits.

SOLAR POWER WORKS FOR EVERYONE

Does your household qualify for the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program, known as WHEAP?

If so, visit our Energy Assistance Page to complete an application.

If you qualify for Energy Assistance and are serviced by Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services, then you could be enrolled in the Energy Wisconsin community solar program! No paperwork, no forms required. Eligible families will automatically receive solar benefits on their monthly utility bill

West CAP enrolls households that are eligible. The solar energy produced by the solar array is divided equally by the number of households enrolled in the program to determine the solar benefit to each household.

Your monthly bill from Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services will show a community solar credit. It’s that easy!

Enjoy lower utility bills knowing you are helping your community by using renewable energy!
