OPERATION BACK TO SCHOOL PROGRAM

No child should go to school without the supplies they need, like a backpack, notebooks, crayons, and pencils. Parents spend an average of $270 or more on back-to-school items per student each year. Thanks to the generosity of the community, this program collects donations of school supplies for Boycevillle, Colfax, Glenwood City, Elk Mound, and Menomonie school districts during the months of July-September each year.

July through August of each year, we collect the following to support our cause:

• Donations of school supplies, crayons, markers, dry-erase markers, headphones, pencils, notebooks, etc. We can arrange pick-up or items can be dropped off at one of our offices.
• Monetary donations to buy supplies – checks can be made payable to
West Cap – Operation Back to School, and mailed to PO Box 308, Glenwood City, WI 54013
• Donations toward the Angel Fund. Angel Funds help pay off lunch balances and help fund the back-pack program for weekend meals sent home so no students go hungry. Checks can be made payable to
West Cap – Angel Fund, and mailed to PO Box 308, Glenwood City, WI 54013. Please note which school district(s) you would like the donation to go to.

If you have any questions or would like to learn ways that you can help, please contact Kristen at 715-280-3067, or email westcap@wcap.org.

HOLIDAY GIFT PROGRAM

To lighten the burden felt by so many families during the holidays, we host an annual Holiday Gift Program each year. We collect gifts and donations for children in the Boyceville, Glenwood City, and Spring Valley school districts who are on the free/reduced lunch program. The Holiday Gift Drive is only possible because of the generous donations made by community members.  Follow us on Facebook for updates!

If you would like to participate, please do any of the following November 1st through the first week of December:

  • Stop into the Glenwood City office and pick up a tag to sponsor a specific child(ren)’s wish list! They are organized by School/Age/Gender.
  • Donate online by choosing ‘Holiday Gift Program’ from the program list on our donation page, and we will purchase unclaimed items with donated funds.
  • Mail in a monetary donation to PO Box 308 Glenwood City, WI 54013 with “Holiday Gift Drive” in the memo line and we will purchase unclaimed items with donated funds.
  • Contact Kristen Curvello and ask about other ways you can help 715-280-3067 / westcap@wcap.org

All gifts must be dropped off at our Glenwood City office location at 525 2nd Street. We can arrange a pick up if early notification is given.

Gifts do not need to be wrapped. Please label every gift item with the child’s identifying letter/number, located on the tag.

You do not need to get every item on the list. These are suggestions that the child/parent/guardian gave to help with ideas and sizes, but only purchase the amount you want to give! We make sure everyone gets 5-6 gifts.

We ask that all gifts are dropped off by December 18, 2023. Thank you!

ELIGIBLE FAMILIES

Families who live in the school district communities of Glenwood City, Boyceville, or Spring Valley and are at or below 125% Federal Poverty Level can apply to be included in the Holiday Gift program – Apply by November 30, 2023.

Application forms are available at the Glenwood City, Boyceville, and Spring valley school offices, at the West CAP office in Glenwood City at 525 Second Street, or online to download and print from here.

Every attempt is made to fulfill a portion of each child’s needs and/or wishes, but funding is limited and demand can exceed donations. The program is intended to “supplement” each child’s Christmas gifts, and cannot be responsible for providing everything requested. Please no expensive electronic requests such as X-box, Switch, tablets, etc.

Gifts will be distributed December 19th & 20th ONLY. We will call you when your items can be picked up. Photo ID is required. If someone will be picking up for you, you must call and let us know who will be coming. Items will not be released without prior arrangements.
