Remembering Darlene Waters

Our agency has taken a heavy blow this week as we mourn the loss of our beloved colleague and friend, Darlene Waters.   Dar was hired at West CAP by the agency’s first Executive Director, Jake Banks, in 1972 as an Assistant Bookkeeper. She worked in the accounting department in the Glenwood City office for the next fifty-one years, sharing so much of her life within these walls. HOMELESS INTERVENTION TEAM RAISES AWARENESS FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Each October, agencies across the nation come together to recognize victims and raise awareness about the devastating impact of domestic violence. NEW NURSING SKILLS PROGRAM CELEBRATES ITS FIRST GRADUATE

Wilhelmina is West CAP’s first Nursing Skills participant to graduate and secure a career in the medical field! Wilhelmina received her Technical Diploma from Northwood Technical College in Medical Assistant Program on May 19, 2023. She was able to start a job as a Medical Assistant for Westfields Hospital & Clinic in New Richmond, WI on May 22, 2023. Green Team Calculates Annual Emissions for Carbon Offset Initiative

As part of the agency’s commitment to sustainability, West CAP created an internal “Green Team” in 2022 to tackle part of our mission, which is to work to create a more just and sustainable society. West CAP Receives WHEDA Foundation Grant for Low-Income Housing Upgrades

WHEDA recently awarded $2 million in grant funds to organizations across Wisconsin that provide emergency shelter, transitional residences, and extremely low-income housing, including a $50,000 grant to West CAP. This grant is funded in part by WHEDA and by American Rescue Plan Act in a joint effort to create or improve safe, housing, esspecially for community members with complex needs.
