October 30th is traditionally celebrated as National Weatherization Day to shine a light on the positive impact the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) has on low-income households and our local communities. Many events were held across the country to celebrate a program that reduces energy burden for low income households, while also improving the health and safety of the homes. WAP also supports 8,500 jobs nationwide, many of these at small businesses in our local communities.
West CAP’s Weatherization Program exists to improve the efficiency, comfort, and home safety of housing stock for low/moderate Wisconsinites that are enrolled in the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP). These services can be performed on site-built homes, manufactured homes, multifamily dwellings, and even apartment buildings. Home Energy Plus programs are funded by the Wisconsin Department of
Administration (DOA), Division of Energy, Housing and Community Resources (DEHCR).
In our fiscal year ending 2024, West CAP’s Weatherization Program served 2,569 individuals across nine counties, including weatherizing 235 homes, responding to 336 No-Heat Crisis calls, and conducting 299 home energy audits.
Join us in recognizing the amazing work of this department and all they do to improve not only homes, but lives, every day!
