Abigail’s Story

Abigail has been part of West CAP’s Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program for two years. This voluntary, goal-driven program provides support, resources, and matched escrow funds to help participants gain financial independence.

Abigail’s story:

“When I joined the program, I had just started a low-paying job after a long period of unemployment. I didn’t have a vehicle and was struggling financially without direction. The program became a turning point.

With the support I received, I set meaningful goals, learned to budget, manage my money, and make better financial decisions. My confidence grew, and I was able to significantly improve my credit score—something I once thought was impossible.

In two years, I purchased a reliable vehicle on my own and secured a better-paying, stable job. I’m no longer living paycheck to paycheck and finally feel financially secure and independent.

The FSS program provided essential tools, accountability, and encouragement when I needed it most. It has helped me build stability and confidence in my future, and I believe it’s an invaluable resource for anyone working toward financial independence.”
